Short Intro. My name is Princess Serrano and I am proficient in creating brand awareness and brand loyalty through social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and Snapchat.
Where Have I Been? It started off as a dream, at 16 I had my first marketing internship at Ogilvy and Mather. I then, traveled to West Virginia where I obtained my BA in Advertising from Bethany College in May of 2014. During that time, I interned at The Nature Conservancy as a market research intern conducting case studies and literature reviews . I've also had the opportunity to obtain experience in marketing as Vice President of Marketing for the Student Activities Council (SAC) among other VP positions. Our goal was to produce campus wide activities such as concerts, comedy shows, guest lecture speakers and late night events. Through strategic planning and lots of market research over the 4 years we've increased our attendance of events from 15% to 50%, and I could not have been prouder!
Where Am I Now? Aside from being active in SAC, I've spent 4 years of my college as the production manager at our college radio station WVBC Bethany which helped me get a position at SiriusXM as a Sports Play by Play Board Operator. Always, looking to expand my reach in the digital world I am also a partaking in a Digital Marketing Program CO-OP, which is a 200 hour program geared towards certification in Google Analytics, Google AdWords as well as knowledge on SEO and other digital marketing tactics. In addition this program, helps with career building and networking!
Where Am I Going? In the very near future I hope to capitalize on a career in Near future plans beyond starting a career in digital marketing (think about the skills you want to develop); 10 years from now (where do you see yourself, what are dreams/goals)

2 Companies I really admire and Why
I love this company because they mastered the art story telling through content strategy. They hold a special place in my heart, because this is where my dreams of work started. The one person who I would admire the most was David Ogilvy himself. Ogilvy stated, "Advertising people who ignore research are as dangerous as generals who ignore decodes of enemy signals." I couldn't agree more.
This company has a strong sense of brand awareness and targets a very broad scope of audiences. What makes them truly unique is their summer internship programs which is what allowed me to find my niche e in content strategy. Geof Rochester, Chief Marketing Officer and mentor. I admired his insight on the target audiences need, and his overall leadership to steer the company in a new innovative direction.
Let me tell you about a time ...
During my freshman year of college I joined the Student Activities Council because I wanted to strengthen my event planning skills and be more involved on campus. I attended every meeting and joined the marketing team of "Late Night Activities" because I was very interested in planning parties, concerts.
After 2 years on the Council I became the VP of Marketing and decided to take a new approach to planning events because I realized our student attendance rate was on the decline.
I implemented a technique learned in Advertising class RACE (research, action, communication, and evaluation) which is a 4 step process to campaigning effectively. We "researched" our target audience through surveys, polls and twitter and Facebook questionnaires. After collecting data we took action and found entertainment that matched the students interest. Just to be certain we communicated with the students once more through survey monkey asking them which artist out of the 5 within our budget would they prefer agreed to do a reveal at the event.
In the end we had 411 students in attendance which was roughly 52% of the campus's 709 student population.
Looking back at my time as as VP of Marketing I have learned the importance of effective research and that team work will definitely make the dream work and now I feel more confident than ever to help other companies achieve their dreams.
