Let me tell you about ...
Last year, during new years I was sent, along with a GO TEAM to manage an ASICS store opening located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The company was relatively new and this was its ninth flagship store opening in a less than a year. I was the Operational Manager responsible for all inventory control of merchandise; developing and execution of a stock and sales floor.
I have been part of flagship store openings but under supervision, this was the first time I was under my own management in charge of the full development of a store. My team and I were responsible for the processing and merchandising of over 1,600 pairs of sneakers and 2,500 pieces of apparel. To make things interesting, the delivery of product was delayed by customs, which left us four days to bring a store to life. I was forced to strategies and developed new receiving practices in order to be quick and efficient with inventory control, make up lost time and at the same time properly coach new hires on product knowledge.
Eventually, my team and I accomplished everything and met the due date for ASICS Flagship Store grand opening in San Juan, Puerto Rico. To this day, the store is one of the top volume and grossing stores in the company with just a little over a year of business underneath their belt.
I learned to always be prepared for the best but be just as ready for the worst. I know understand that things don’t always go as plan, you have to be able to strategies and react according in order to handle the task at hand.
