Short Intro.  Hello! My name is Fatima Muhammad. I am passionate about Digital Marketing. I am especially interested in SEM. I am open-minded and always willing to learn new things

Where Have I Been?  I graduated from Baruch college July 2016 with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Marketing Management. I worked as a Women's Shoes Merchandiser Lead at Lord & Taylor for two years. I volunteered for Habitat for Humanity, where I helped build houses for low income families.

Where Am I Now? Currently, I work at Lord & Taylor as a Jewelry Merchandiser Lead. I am also a Digital Marketing Apprentice at COOP. I joined COOP to re-learn skills I learned in school and to learn new skills in the digital marketing field. Although the program just started, I have high expectations of my success. I believe this program will help me to come out of my shell a little and build lifelong friendships and connections. I am optimistic about my future success. In my spare time I help my mother with her social media accounts she established for her daycare center.

Where Am I Going? I hope use the skills I learned in school and at COOP and peruse a career in digital marketing . I want to concentrate in SEM. In addition, I want to go to graduate school. Ten years from now I hope to own a wedding planning company and apply the skills I have cultivated throughout the years.

2 Companies I really admire and Why

Living and working in New York you learn fast that space is limited and expensive. I like this company because they make it possible to afford office space for a person just starting out in the workforce, or a company already established.

Twitch is an online live streaming platform where broadcasters can release and perform their content in real-time with viewer interaction live. I first found out of Twitch several years ago when I wanted to find a hobby that doesn't involve being the viewer but a content creator. Now as a live broadcaster, I consider Twitch as my second hobby, influencing many individuals around the world with my creative content and entertainment.

Her Campus is one of the companies that I really admire. I  like this company because it specializes in advertisements for women in college. This company is meant to empower women. The content is written for college women and by college women. By doing this the company ensures the voice of women is heard. In addition, it ensures the content shared will follow a women's journey through her life.

Let me tell you about ...

Setting the stage. My last semester at Baruch was very challenging. I decided to take my last two classes in June of this year so that I could have the rest of the summer free. This summer session consisted of five weeks. I did not realize at the time how hard the classes would be individually, or that the company I work for would conduct their week long overnight inventory in June as well.

The beginning. The semester had just started and I was already overwhelmed. I had group projects for both classes and I had to get my department at Lord & Taylor ready for inventory. I was leaving home at 530 am five days a week and not getting home until 1130 on those nights. On the weekends I was staying up late to work on my homework and projects, I was not getting much sleep. I had assignments from Glo-Bus, (an online business simulation competition running a camera shop with my three group members) due twice a week and a huge research project on Procter and Gamble due the same week my company had their inventory. I had great group members in my BPL class and we had already started the research for our project which consisted of a written seventy-page paper and a PowerPoint presentation. However, I did not know if I would be able to continue on as I was going. I had to make a decision fast, should I drop the BPL class, let my group members down and take it in July or should I continue to push through.

The middle. I decided that I would continue taking both classes. In my operations management class, the projects were not as heavy as the ones in BPL. I explained to my group members in my Operations Management class the situation and they understood 100%. They were only taking the one class and they both told me that they would pick up the slack for the last two assignments so that I could focus on the large project I had in my other class. I also asked my manager at work if I could leave thirty minutes early for the rest of the semester, thankfully he agreed.

The End. I am glad to say I passed both of those classes. In fact, my group made it on the list of the best top fifty groups, and we won the competition. I made three new friends that I know have my back when things get tough. I also got through inventory in one piece.

Reflection. I learned a lot about myself this semester. I learned that I am stronger than I thought I was, and I learned the true meaning of teamwork and friendship. I learned that anything is possible when you set your mind to succeed.
