Short Intro.  Hey guys! My name is Jonathan Ortiz. I love learning new skills, and enjoy adapting to whatever comes my way. I cannot wait what else life has to throw my way! :)

Where Have I Been?  I will graduate with a marketing degree in Spring 2017 from DeVry University. I was an installation merchandiser for Hallmark. Every election for the past 3 years I have worked as a poll worker. I once was a part of a non profit named Children’s Pressline.

Where Am I Now? I am currently a certified pharmacy technician working in Walgreens apart from my internship here at COOP. I joined COOP because I am very interested in digital marketing and I feel like it WILL open doors for me to success in the future. I want to gain the proper understanding on what it is to digital market, and how that can better further my plans as an entrepreneur. This past summer I also volunteered as a girls’ basketball coach for a non profit organization called the NSSP.

Where Am I Going? I want to better my technological skills. I want to make sure I know how to handle statistics and numbers to further my goals in whatever I am trying to do. I see myself being financially stable. I want to be at the head of the table of whatever company I venture into. In 10 years, I see myself not worrying if I ever have enough of something I need, and I hope to one day throw away the concept of “saving money.”

2 Companies I really admire and Why

Why do you like this company? What makes them special? Is there a leader at this organization you really admire?

Twitch is an online live streaming platform where broadcasters can release and perform their content in real-time with viewer interaction live. I first found out of Twitch several years ago when I wanted to find a hobby that doesn't involve being the viewer but a content creator. Now as a live broadcaster, I consider Twitch as my second hobby, influencing many individuals around the world with my creative content and entertainment.

Let me tell you about the time I Lead my Basketball Team to a Championship

I was entering the new season in a competitive league with a team made up of guys that had never played with each other before. Other teams were more familiar with each other and one team in particular, the Greys, was already predicted to win it all. Being the last team standing was going to be harder than I imagined it to be, and as captain of my team, winning it all was the only option in my mind.

After miraculously winning our first game, I quickly realized we were a very strong team. It was safe to say that we were going to go very far in this league and even the playoffs. Having a strong defense and an above-average offense, our team was one to be reckoned with. I always had a game plan for every team we faced, and winning every game meant that for the most part, the game plans were working. So when we lost by 3 points to the Greys, a team that on average was defeating opponents by 24 point, during the regular season after a solid game plan was executed, you can imagine how shocked I was. That could not happen again.

I spent weeks wondering why we lost. Yeah, they were a very great team, but we had a game plan that should have given us a win. I could not let it happen again, because I knew that the next time we would see this team was in the playoffs (we won every other game). I went to every one of the grey’s games, I studied them, I learned their strengths and exploited their weaknesses, and I made sure that the mistakes we did the first time around would not happen again. I could afford to do all this because I was injured, so my season was virtually done, but I made sure I did what I could to help them win.

We met the Greys again in the semi-finals. It was a greatly anticipated game- two best teams in the league going head-to-head once again. I told my guys the game plan, what the grey’s struggled in, how our offense should be run in-game, and how our defense should be set up. With all the preparing and studying I did, I was very confident we were going to execute very well and earn that W. Fast-forward to 3 minutes left in the game, and my team was leading by 17 points. I sat there on the bench, with a slight smile on my face as the clock ran down to 0. We won by 11, and advanced to the championship game which honestly, and I even knew it myself, was not a challenge. The championship game was an easy 15 points win.

I showed that I learn from my mistakes, and I do what I can to not make them again. I showed that I will put in the work to achieve my goals. I would put the time and effort. I showed that I can be a leader and can be selfless. My hard work paid off, and even though this story was not job or school related, it still shows my good qualities and how that can help me succeed in whatever it is that I put my mind to.
