2 Companies I really admire and Why
Apple Inc. leads in the world of innovation with ground breaking designs and revolutionizing modern technology. I've grown to respect the company for it's minimal yet complex products. I admire the brand continuously aiming to serve the upmost sophisticated and secure technology.
The Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) is one of the world's leading sports and entertainment presenters in the world. AEG is responsible for presenting internationally known musical concerts, festivals, and live sporting events. Some of AEG affiliations include Justin Bieber, Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival, British Summer Time, and the ESPN X Games. I admire the company for it's ability to successfully launch larger-than-life events that bring communities together from all corners of the world.
Let me tell you about ...
Setting the stage. Shortly after graduating from City College, I moved to Los Angeles and began working as an accounting file clerk for Sit’N Sleep. A well respected mattress retailer chain in Southern California, who’s rapidly expanded business in its recent years. With that said, the company was in a slow transition of switching their customer financial applications on to a digital platform.
The beginning. Having outgrown their corporate office space twice in under 5 years, the file records were not in the best of shape. The accounting archive collection was unorganized, which made it difficult to recovery documents.
The middle. I proposed to my supervisor a plan to reorganize the entire accounting archive collection and dispose of outdated documentation. I was soon approved and giving the lead on the project. I created a new floor plan that allowed for easy retrieval of records. Additional, I coordinated with a paper shredding company to safely dispose of records containing sensitive information in a timely fashion.
The End. After some intense “Spring Cleaning”, I was proud with my work. The archives were set up in a manner that was easy for any corporate personal to retrieve without assistance. Now the records were set up according to category and year. Over 600 file archival storage boxes were removed, dating back up to 10 years of documentation. Enough to fill up 12 dumpsters!
Reflection. I learned I was capable of constructing and executing a project successfully. I took the initiative and made recommendations to my supervisor for the benefit of the company and the department.
