2 Companies I really admire and Why

Apple is an American multinational technology company from California. They design, develop and sell consumer electronics, computer software, and online services. One of the most famous founders of Apple is Steve Jobs. I admire the user friendly simplicity of each of the products that apple offers. They have amazing customer retention and brand loyalty because of what they offer to users.

BuzzFeed is a cross-platform, global network for news and entertainment that creates and distributes content for a global audience. They also utilize proprietary technology to continuously test, learn and optimize. They generate 6 billion views each month. I think that their approach to social advertising separates them from other news/entertainment companies because of their focus on data science. They produce an average of 700+ pieces of new content daily.

Let me tell you about ...

Setting the stage.  Two years ago, in my sophomore year, I was elected President of The Open Alliance.

The beginning. I had just transferred into The City College of New York from my previous community college and wanted to find a similar club as my previous college. The first day I visited the club room, there was hardly any members and no sense of inclusivity present. I saw the opportunity to run for president and change things for the better.

The middle. I shared my ideas with classmates and existing club members. To better understand the club culture, I did my research as to what people wanted to get out of their club experience. I ran for president and helped recruit friends to also run for e-board positions.

The End. The club has flourished since I was president. There are over 200+ members now and the environment is very inclusive. The club has also built a bigger campus presence and developed many partnerships with other organizations on campus and off campus.

Reflection. Being president of this club has taught me a lot about the importance of tackling challenges, being a leader, and achieving goals.
